Prof. Nikolai Hopf

MD, PHD - Neurosurgeon & Medical Director

Professor Hopf attended medical school in Mainz and Munich, Germany, as well as in Morgantown, USA. After passing both the German medical examination and the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), he trained in neurosurgery from 1990 to 1996 in Mainz under Prof. Axel Perneczky. His training included a clinical fellowship with Dr. Kim Manwaring and Dr. Robert Spetzler in Phoenix, AZ, USA, focusing on endoscopic pediatric, vascular, and skull base neurosurgery. He passed his national board examination in neurosurgery in 1996 and subsequently became an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, under the direction of Prof. Axel Perneczky. From 1999 to 2003, he served as Professor and Vice-Chairman of the department.

From 2003 to 2014, he was Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Klinikum Stuttgart in Germany. From 2014 to 2019, he founded and served as Director of the NeuroChirurgicum, an international center for Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery in Stuttgart, Germany. Since 2019, he has been Head of the Center for Neurosurgery, Endoscopic & Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery at the Hirslanden Clinic Zurich in Switzerland.

Professor Hopf has served as a tutor in more than 90 national and international hands-on courses on endoscopy, minimally invasive neurosurgery, and skull base surgery, including courses at AANS and CNS. Currently, in cooperation with ENDOMIN College, he directs a series of international hands-on and clinical observer courses on endoscopic and minimally invasive neurosurgery, including live surgery events.

Professor Hopf is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications in the fields of endoscopic and minimally invasive neurosurgery, vascular neurosurgery, and skull base surgery. He is a frequently invited speaker at national and international conferences and has hosted many international guests in Stuttgart and Zurich.

Nese Atilla-Hopf

Nese Atilla-Hopf impresses not only with her cheerful nature and social competence but also with her many years of experience as a specialized nursing professional in various German and international hospitals. Among other things, she served as the Head of the Central Operating Rooms at Klinikum Stuttgart in Germany. Nese Atilla-Hopf is deeply committed to the education and training of medical professionals, including nurses and doctors, in international courses on endoscopic and minimally invasive neurosurgery at the ENDOMIN College, as well as in collaboration with leading medical companies.

Nese Atilla-Hopf is the mother of two sons and, in addition to her fulfilling life, works as a mediator and interpreter for international medical matters within the framework of the International Neurocompetence Agency which she founded in 2024 and currently serves as CEO. Furthermore, she holds a leadership position in the non-profit ENDOMIN Foundation.

Beyond her professional activities, Nese Atilla-Hopf is vounteers in her children’s schools and engages in national and international projects related to human rights and environmental protection.

Claudia Essien is an experienced Medical Practice Assistant with a background in various specialties, including general medicine, ENT, palliative care, gynecology, neurology, and neurosurgery. She is known for her exceptional helpfulness and loyalty. A positive and solution-oriented person, she enjoys laughing but can also be serious when necessary.

As a single mother of a teenage daughter and an adult son, she is highly organized and values life while remaining conscientious, punctual, and fully committed to her workplace. Patients quickly build trust in her and appreciate her ability to efficiently organize consultations and treatment appointments, ensuring timely and convenient communication.

Claudia Essien has 17 years of experience in neurophysiology, including VEP, Video-KIT, SudoScan, MoCA test, EEG, and more. She is fluent in English, German, and Swiss German and has a working knowledge of Italian.
