Vanessa completed a Bachelor of Applied Science at the University of Sydney and has worked as a Speech Pathologist in the rehabilitation of acquired brain injury for many years in both clinical and management roles.
As a clinician, Vanessa conducted clinically-driven research which has been presented at international forums and published in peer-reviewed journals. She has also co-authored a textbook chapter regarding the clinical application of research methodology in order to help clinicians measure the efficacy of therapies with more rigour.
Vanessa has worked in private practice since 2011 and continues to contribute to undergraduate and post-graduate speech pathology programs through casual lecturing.

What current medical research are you most excited about?
Anything to do with managing COVID-19 so I can get back to seeing everyone face-to-face and see my family and friends!
How do you strengthen your mental fitness?
I love walking in silence and focusing on the different stimuli that invoke my senses.
What is your favourite health hack?
An early morning walk in the fresh air and a swim in the sea always make me feel amazing.
What is your ‘not-so-guilty’ pleasure?
Fresh flowers, scented candles, essential oils. I love beautiful smells!
What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl because my daughter is studying it at school and I have always wanted to read it.
